Wokha police have asked the Assembly speaker Chotisu Sazo to accord sanction to prosecute state health minister Imkong L. Imchen in connection with the February 18 incident, in which he was caught with cash amounting to Rs.1.10 crore, arms and ammunition and liquor near Longsa village, Wokha.
Highly placed sources informed Nagaland Post that a letter addressed to the speaker was received on May 10 last seeking to accord sanction to prosecute the former state home minister and current health & family welfare minister.
However, the sources added that the issue has been referred to director general of police for further course of action while seeking legal views on the matter.
Imchen was arrested along with four others including his son Senti, PSO ASI, driver and domestic helper under case no 19/13 of Wokha Police Station under section 171(E), 171 (H), 188 IPC read with 25 1A (a), 44 Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act and 77 (3) of the Representation of Peoples’ Act.
