Says either you are for or against illegal taxation
Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Thursday conveyed appreciation to the public for supporting the June 18 symbolic Dimapur bandh called against unabated taxation and illegal collections.

In a press release, ACAUT convener Ntsemo Ngullie and secretary Solomon L Awomi expressed gratitude to all the chamber of commerce of all the districts for making the bandh a Nagaland success. Schools and colleges, banks, private bus and taxi unions, etc., are deeply appreciated for expressing solidarity with us, it said.

The Action Committee also reminded the public of the hurdles ahead and solicited the moral support and co-operation of every individual and organisations to make an impact.

It also requested the State government to address the issue directly since illegal taxation is for the law enforcing agencies to tackle and deal with.

“ACAUT has within its capacity tried to streamline taxation and illegal collections but ultimately it’s the State government which has to take a final stand,” it stated.

Stating that there is no middle ground when it comes to taxation in Nagaland, the Action Committee said it is “either you are for illegal taxation or you’re against it.” It also conveyed appreciation the press media for their unflinching support.
