A three-day long spiritual retreat was held for the youth of St. Mary’s Parish, Lozaphühü from June 28 to 30 with Rev. Fr. Sojan Xavier, youth director of the Diocese of Kohima and Fr. Loyola Antony as resources persons.
They were accompanied by Sylvester, Francis and Patricia members of Jesus Youth Movement, who made the retreat all the more alive singing praises to God.
The retreat began with a short welcome address by Rev. Fr. James Thsipongkiu, youth director of the Parish.
He introduced the purpose of conducting such retreat during this part of the year. The highlights of the retreat included eight talks, confession, Eucharistic adoration, rosary procession with candle light, Holy Mass, Praise and worship, and movies on the life of St. Paul and life of a missionary.
The topics dealt during the talks were God’s Love and our response, Sin and Forgiveness, Marks of the Catholic Church, Holy Spirit, Evangelization, Prayer, Rosary and Word of God.
The retreat enabled the participants to have a personal encounter with Jesus and thus enabled them to carry forward the missionary mandate to bear witness to Jesus as well as to serve those in need.
At the concluding ceremony, Rev. Fr. Antony R. Dukru, Parish Priest thanked the resource persons and their team for making the retreat a God-experiencing one and thanked the participants for bringing blessings to the Parish through their active participation.
On the last day, the youth were also blessed by the visit from the delegates of Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement and Chakhesang Catholic Youth Movement.
It may be mentioned that the retreat was organized as part of the year-long silver jubilee celebration of the Catholic Youth of St. Mary’s Parish, Lozaphühü which culminates in the month of December this year.
