Zion Hospital and Research Center (ZHRC) on Thursday hosted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme between noted plastic surgeon Dr Sandeep Sharma, Dimapur based doctors.

The programme was organized by Indian Medical Association in collaboration with Zion Hospital. CME is a form of continuing education that helps those in the medical field maintain competence and learn about new and developing areas of their field.

Trained under the masters of plastic & cosmetic surgery in UK and Australia, Dr Sharma has performed more than 3000 successful surgeries around the world, over the last 20 years of his professional career.

During his brief interaction on Thursday Dr. Sharma maintained that most people in the country are ignorant about the growing need of plastic surgery while maintaining that it is not a luxury but a need.

In a separate interactive session with a group of women, numbering around twenty, he advised the audience to approach plastic surgeons only “through known channels” in order to ensure good results. “Because plastic surgery is all about skills,” he said.

Dr Sharma also suggested that plastic surgeries were safer in big cities because “the big issues in small cities are privacy and confidentiality.”

He also delivered a short presentation on the different kinds of cosmetic and plastic surgeries including, liposuction, tummy tuck, breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast uplift, hair transplantation, facial rejuvenation, facelift, nose shape correction, baggy eyelid correction, prominent ear correction and stem cell therapy.

It may be mentioned that Dr Sharma, who runs a center for plastic and cosmetic surgery called Aesthetique in Vadodara, would be available for consultation and surgery on July 5 and 6 at ZHRC, Dimapur.
