Reacting to NPF charge that the Congress was resorting to personalized attacks on chief minister, NPCC Thursday said NPF must learn to accept that the chief minister cannot be insulated from shouldering blame and criticism since conduct of political leaders, who derive mandate from people, are open to public scrutiny as per conventions of parliamentary democracy.
NPCC through its Media Cell, asserted that criticism was a political hazard that came with power and responsibility, which it said, was yet to be understood by the NPF.
NPCC maintained that it had always questioned the chief minister for “failing miserably to govern the state” while “devoting all his energy in pursuit of his ever expanding business empire”.
Stating that it has not leveled any false allegations against the chief minister, NPCC reiterated that it had always substantiated its charges were substantiated.
Further, saying that though NPF wanted the public to believe that the chief minister’s vast growing business empire was his personal or family concern and accusing the Congress of resorting to personalized attacks, the NPCC cautioned that it would not hesitate to bring out more exposures with enough evidences on other ministers also.
NPCC maintained that ten years was a long time in politics and with the NPF-led DAN into their third term; there can be no excuses for causing the present state of affairs that has destroyed the fabric of Nagaland state.
Reacting to NPF for accusing Congress as ‘acting as agents of outsiders,’ NPCC said the phrase was however more aptly suited to NPF political agenda. It said the NPF instead, has abdicated the responsibility of governance and allowed the writ of the state to be “hijacked by nefarious elements”.
NPCC said NPF recalling alleged misdeeds of Congress a decade back, cannot justify the present state of affairs.
In this, it pointed out that Neiphiu Rio, T.R. Zeliang and G Kaito Aye and some other legislators in the present NPF-led DAN government, were all part of previous Congress regime.
“Taunting and blaming the Congress of that era boomerangs especially on the chief minister who had held every important cabinet portfolios including that of home minister,” said NPCC.
Stating that the NPF-led DAN government, into its third term, has been more concerned with embezzling and aggrandizement of state resources rather than govern the state; NPCC said it would be fulfilling the bounden duty of any opposition party in a democratic setup to unmask the truth behind the facade.
