Language identifies one’s culture: Kezo, DGP

DGP Besüsayo Kezo addressing the 4th session of Chokri Chakhesang Literature Committee (CCLC) Thursday at Zonal Council Hall, Kohima said Nagas are losing their identity when it comes to speaking own languages because of giving more priority to nagamese.

On the occasion, Kezo, while emphasizing on the importance of learning to speak one’s own dialect, urged Nagas to spread the culture that language is ‘our culture and first identity.’

Putting forth a reminder that ‘language belongs to people and people belong to language where language identifies one’s culture,’ Kezo said this significance should be inculcated to the younger generation for revival.

Kezo also lauded the CCLC for their contribution in bring up Chokri language in their community.
Reverend Thikhu-o Phesao, convener CCGTC and Zachilhü Vadeo, chief advisor, CCLC also spoke on the programme.

Meanwhile, the committee elected new office bearers for the tenure 2013-15, headed by Ariyi Nienu as chairman, Zaveyi Nyekha as vice-chairman and Er. Nüküsa T Vadeo (Technical) as general secretary.

The committee has also elected Thikhu-o Phesao as chairman, Veküso Swüro as general secretary, Khrütsoyi Lürü-o as chaplain, Vepocü Epao as advisor, Ngotso as treasurer along with four other members in the gospel translation committee CCGTC.
