Youth asked to be catalyst for change

Youth were asked to be catalyst by bringing about sea change in the society particularly the rural villages by youth resources and sports director Kelei Zeliang during the culmination ceremony of the 10-day orientation training for Nehru Yuva Kendras, Nagaland Thursday at Bamboo Hall, Kisama Naga Heritage village Kohima.

Congratulating the participants for successfully completing the training course, he called upon the youth to work hard for the upliftment of the rural community, saying they were the bridge between the government and the people as the volunteers can disseminate developmental agendas to the rural youth.

Around 140 National Youth Corps (volunteers) from all the districts of Nagaland attended the training camp from August 13 to 22.

NYKS zonal director JackyRuihva called upon the volunteers to be sincere in their works in whatever they do. She said NYCs are to implement NYK programmes through youth clubs and can linked their village youth clubs to any developmental agencies for development.

In a press release, DYC, NYK, Kohima John Makhabo stated that purpose of the training was to facilitate the volunteers who were to train and plan for village youth clubs as well as in providing information and education to them about the NYC scheme and other developmental programmes. NYKS vice chairperson Tilotama interacted with the participants.

Various topics covered during the 10 days training programme included training objectives, youth services, about the national youth volunteers scheme, youth profile in india, personality development, life skills, national values etc.

The programme was animated by Rosy, Albert, Pelenizo Joseph, Michael,  Eyozol Pucho Ruokuoviko, Paulina DYC, Marjit DYC, Laxman DYC and John Makhabo DYC.

The organization has expressed gratitude to all those who were involved in making the programme a grand success.
