Demonstration prog for farmers in Hovukhu

Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Dimapur, Niuland Block organised a demonstration programme at Hovukhu village on August 21.

Resource person Yanchibemo, BTT member and WDT, Department of Land Resource Development, stressed the importance of rubber plantation in Dimapur considering its suitable climate and topography.

The farmers were also imparted knowledge on proper selection of site, nursery raising and proper selection of polythene, land preparation, planting, managing, tapping and processing.

Nokener Ozukum, FD, Department Of Fisheries, spoke on the topic “Pond Management” and threw light on pro-stocking, stocking and post-stocking management.

He said cow dung was used as manure for fishery pond and added that aquatic weeds should be removed and liming done after two days of manuring. Nokener also said proper amount of fishes should be released according to the area and volume of the pond.

At the programme chaired by Demalu Hasnusa, BTM, both the DAO and the SDAO were present. In his welcome address, Bendangtemsu, DAO &PD, ATMA, Dimapur, said more farmers should take up rubber plantation as well as cultivation of other crops, and assured them of full support from his side.

Giving a short speech, Viniho Achumi, Head GB, Hovukhu village, conveyed thanks to the departments concerned and sought more assistance from the allied departments for the villagers.

On the other hand, at Pihekhu village on August 23, resource person Dr Marlin, VAS &BTT convenor, Veterinary Department, conducted free vaccination and treatment of animals. Free medicines for animals were also distributed to the participants by ATMA.
