15154 HIV+ cases between Jan ’99 & July ’13

Out of 8221 persons who had undergone HIV tests in the state, 154 persons tested positive in July this year alone. The cumulative figure of HIV+ cases in the state since 1999 now stands at 15154.

According to the latest figures released by Nagaland State Aids Control Society (NSACS), Dimapur, the commercial hub of the state topped the figure chart with 70 persons who tested positive out of 1482 persons who had come forward for test in July.

Dimapur was followed by state capital Kohima with 33 positive cases out of 1232 that had undergone tests. (See Table)

Tuensang occupied the third highest position with 17 persons who were tested positive out of 882 who were tested during the same month.

Mon and Wokha occupied the lowest position with two cases each. Between April 2006 and July 2013, a total of 11362 persons have been tested positive out a total of 517868 persons who underwent tests.  It may be mentioned that between January 1999 and March 2006, Nagaland had a total of 3792 HIV+ cases.
