Gorkha Elders’ Forum (GEF), Dimapur has condemned the assault and abduction bid on Narendra Chettri, a retired SDO, PWD department on October 10 while he was taking a morning walk at the state stadium, Dimapur.
In a press release, GEF president A.K. Rai and general secretary Gokul Bardewa said on October 10, Chettri was accosted by three miscreants while he was walking at the stadium and the three asked him to come along with them stating that “their commander” had directed him to do meet him.
When he refused, a scuffle broke out and Chettri was hit on the head with a pistol butt leading to profuse bleeding, said GEF.
The forum said when Chettri saw a man at a distance and shouted for help, the miscreants fled the area.
Expressing deep concern over the incident, GEF has requested the law enforcing agencies to arrest the culprits and book them under relevant section of the law.
