Parliamentary secretary, justice & law, land revenue, labour and employment, Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire, undertook the 2nd phase of familiarisation tour of Nagaland on October 14 and 15.
He was accompanied by a host of departmental officers, personal aides and members of the Peren district administration. The tour was primarily aimed at acquiring firsthand information of the existing conditions and functioning of the departments under his care, identify problems being faced and explore ways and means to find solutions, enhance performance and deliver meaningful service to the public at large.
The tour commenced with a visit to the customary court at Medziphema and Jalukie, followed by a brief meeting with the local MLA and minister, T. R. Zeliang. He also had a wide range of discussions with deputy commissioner, Peren and other administrative officials, especially with the proposal to shift the district headquarters from Peren to New Peren.
Furthermore, Dr. Nicky visited the two construction sites at New Peren and Chumukedima. Later he visited the court of magistrate, Peren and district offices of labour, employment and land records, and had free and frank discussions with the departments at their respective offices besides meeting local NGOs and party workers.
Dr. Nicky appreciated the free and frank discussions, expression of grievances, and constructive suggestions put forward by the staff.Other district offices would be covered in the later phases of the tour in the near future.
