Zeliang People Organisation (ZPO) has objected to the circular dated October 8, 2013 by DC Peren informing all HoDs that shifting to new district HQ would commence from October 28 in pursuance of chief secretary’s directive, which it stated was never officially brought to the knowledge of the responsible appellant if at all there was any.
According to a press release issued by ZPO president N.Azu Newmai and general secretary Kisamyi Iranggaung, the Gauhati High Court order dated September 7, 2012 directed the chief secretary “to visit the new site and ensure that before shifting of the district headquarters minimum infrastructure was available to his satisfaction.
Till such infrastructure becomes available to the satisfaction of the chief secretary, shifting of headquarters may not be implemented”.
ZPO said on enquiry about “status of chief secretary’s report regarding shifting of Peren district headquarters”, DC Peren, in his noting on the body of the application (of ZPO) endorsed to the SDO(C) October 15, 2013, denied receiving any directives for shifting.
Meanwhile, reiterating that shifting to the proposed new site was “completely insanity” on the part of the responsible authority, ZPO said issue of shifting of Peren district headquarters was sub judice requiring ultimate High Court verdict.
ZPO said any further attempt in shifting the Peren district headquarters at this juncture was not acceptable.
