Parliamentary secretary, cooperation, sericulture &women development Pukhayi Sümi inaugurated the new academic building, cooperative training center at Medziphema on October 25.
The chief guest said it was a significant day for the cooperative department as the department has added another commendable achievement by inaugurating a new CTC at Medziphema.
He added that the history of cooperative movement in Nagaland was dated back to 1946 and there were only two societies in Kohima and Mokokchung, stated an official bulletin.
But now the statistical record showed that Nagaland has 6797 registered cooperative societies which indicated the progress of society, he said.
He requested the officials not to “misuse or abuse” power but to be to be sincere in discharging their duties.
He also added that there should have scope and prospect to revive the department, and lauded the department officials for fulfilling the dreams by establishing the new academic building and encouraged the principal to impart good management skills to students.
The program was chaired by B. P. Chetri, commissioner & secretary, cooperation department, dedication prayer by Pastor, Sümi Baptist Church Medziphema and welcome address by T. Imkonglemla Longkumer, registrar of cooperative societies Nagaland. Wepe Rite, joint RCS gave a brief profile of the new academic building.
Short speeches were delivered by ADC Medziphema and Vilelie Khamo, CTC building contractor, special song by youth department Ao Church and vote of thanks by Temjenlemla Longkumer, addl. RCS & principal CTC.
