Three sister organizations of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) have called a 12-hour Assam bandh from 5 a.m. on Monday in protest against the failure of the government to maintain law and order and to check price rise.

The AGP wings said that they the bandh was called in protest against the recent incident of alleged gang-rape and murder of two girls near Guwhatati and the failure of the government to maintain law and order besides price rise of essential commodities.

The bandh was likely to affect normal life in many parts of Assam. Sources from Nagaland-Assam border area advised Nagas to avoid roads in the neighbouring state.
