KYO general meet held; sings MoU with forest deptt.

Kigwema Youth Organisation (KYO) conducted a general meeting on November 3 at the panchayat hall to reiterate and affirm its stand in line with Kigwema Biodiversity Trust (KBT).

Kigwema Youth Organisation informed the neighbouring villages and public that Kigwema village was conserving its area under state community biodiversity conservation plan and had signed MoU with the department of forest, Nagaland to protect and preserve Mt. Japfu foothill’s rich biodiversity.

In continuation of its earlier resolution and notifications, Kigwema Youth Organisation has informed public that hunting and fishing, forest fire/jungle burning and destructions activities including illegal usage of natural resource from/by own people and outsiders was punishable as per the Village Regulation Act.

This was stated in a release issued by Kigwema Youth Organisation president Mezhuvo-o Thorie and general secretary Khisakedo Phira.
