Kohima DPDB on a ‘day-out’ at Khonoma

Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) went on a ‘day-out’ on November 15 at Seihake, Khonoma with participation from all the DPDB members, elected representatives and invitees.

Speaking on the occasion, parliamentary secretary for law & justice, land revenue & labour employment, Dr. Nicky Kire said that the Kohima DPDB was improving over the years and lauded the various activities being taken up by the Board including the village vision cell, back to the roots programme etc.

He said that as government officials all should give back to the village and not forget the roots.
Dr. Nicky said that visiting villages was a novel idea and such visitations should be continued and added that villages would benefit a lot from such programmes.

Referring to the attendance in DPDB meetings, Dr. Nicky said that the attendance was improving and every officer should give importance to such forums.

He also spoke on maintaining dust-bin free zones and proper garbage collection. Referring to DPDB day-out, Dr. Nicky said that it was a good platform to get to know and understand each other better.

Parliamentary secretary for IPR and printing and stationery, Er. Kropol Vitsu remarking about his first ‘day-out’ experience stated that the programmes of the Kohima DPDB was very encouraging and felt the need to further give importance to the various schemes being taken up.

Er. Kropol said that he was still in the process of learning more about the board and would support the DPDB in all its endeavours.

Commenting on the road widening taken up in Khonoma and neighbouring areas, Kropol said that it would emerge as a very good connectivity not only for nearby areas but with other districts as well.

Parliamentary secretary for housing, Vikho-o Yhoshu also spoke on the occasion. Advisor, Music Task Force, Khriehu Liezietsu released a newsletter on development and environment, “Towards Conservation” published by the district soil conservation officer, Kohima.

District Forest Officer, Kohima spoke on the importance of forest conservation while Zuthungo Patton IFS gave a short briefing on the importance of Amur Falcon conservation. Bio-diversity projects taken up in Khonoma were also highlighted.

Earlier, welcome address was delivered by SDO (C) Sechu, Mohammad Ali Shihab while vote of thanks was tendered by ADC Planning, Ketoho Luho. The programme was chaired by DC Kohima, W. Honje Konyak. Special songs and folk tunes were the other highlights of the programme.
