Indian administrator, author and lyricist, Parvez Dewan, who is also the secretary to the government of India, ministry of tourism, Friday met with a few published Naga authors, upcoming writers and journalists in Kohima to learn about the scenario of literature in Nagaland.
He was accompanied by Nagaland chief secretary Alemtemshi Jamir and additional director of tourism KT Thomas.
During the informal gathering, Dewan expressed his admiration for well known Naga author, Easterine Kire and her works. He also talked out his fascination for Nagaland and the North East region.
On promoting the literature of the state, state chief secretary Alemtemshi Jamir called for a better interface of local writers with the mainstream India.
He also suggested holding an exclusive book festival, which could give a platform for writers from Nagaland to exhibit their works, including those written on Nagas and Nagaland by others as well.
Renowned Naga poet, novelist and writer, Easterine Kire was also present at the meet, organized by PenThrill Publication House.
Other published authors included Agnes Tepa, Susan Waten and Vishü Rita Krocha, Petevilie Chasie, DPRO Kohima, Asangla Imsong, journalists and others.
