Two weeks skill development training programme on ‘Basic Electrical Course’ was conducted on November 18-29 at Government Higher Secondary School, Bhandari by the Academic & Career Guidance Cell of the School in Collaboration with the Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre, Dimapur.
Lanu Jamir, Miaziekho Kehie and Mithu Das, faculties from NTTC, Dimapur were deputed to GHSS, Bhandari as resource persons of the programme.
Intensive hands on training were provided to the participants on house wiring and repairing & maintenance of basic electrical appliances. Candidates who qualify the post training assessment test would be issued national council for vocational training certificates. The valedictory function of the training programme was held on November 29 at the school premises with assitant general manager of Nagaland Tool Room and Training Centre ,Dimapur Er. Petehetuo Miasalhou, as the chief guest and Medical Officer, Community Health Centre , Bhandari Dr. Thejavinuo Keditsu, as the guest of honour.
Er. Petehetuo while exhorting the trainees explained about various vocational training courses made available to the youth of Nagaland by the Govt. of Nagaland, Govt. of India and different NGOs working on the field.
He stressed on the importance of connecting the youth from the villages with the training centres in the towns and lauded that the initiation of the principal and teachers of GHSS, Bhnadari is a mile stone in this regard.
Er. Petehetuo urged the trainees to pursue vocational courses along with the secular education and asked the gathering to encourage school dropout children to utilise the training programmes available in the state for the uplift of their life.
Dr. Thejavinuo in her short speech advised the students to make best use of the student life and urged them to work with determination for achieving their dreams.
Altogether 47 candidates attended the training of which 12 were girls.
