Eri Farm School, Longsa under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Wokha block was inaugurated on December 3 by Assistant Sericulture Officer (ASO) Liben Enni.
Delivering a short speech, project director ATMA Dr. Mhonchan Shitri told the farmers that “learning by doing” and “seeing is believing” would serve the purpose to achieve the target.
He lauded the farmers for their contributions and self dedication and further insisted the farmers to work harder and bring with the best outcome. Shitri also noted that, the farmers should encourage and influence others with their dedication for the betterment of the society.
The concept of farm school and economic importance of Eri-culture and prospects were delivered by SMS Benthunglo Murry and extension officer Monkhomo Lotha respectively.
BTT convenor Tsenyimo Humtsoe illustrated in details about ‘demonstration on cultivation practices of Eri host plant and its management.’ Most importantly, the Eri host plants plantation viz castor, kesseru, payam and tapioca should approach a scientific way in sowing seeds, nursery raising and transplanting saplings for quality and quantity foliage growth. It was informed that following this technique would result better rearing silkworms.
Later, the farmers also interacted with technical experts and their feedbacks were analyzed. At the end of the session, required kits numbering 15 nos of spade, 15 nos of plastic rearing tray and 15 kg of castor seeds were distributed to the farmers. Altogether 22 farmer students attended the programe.
SHG leaders from four villages viz. Longsa, Niroyo, Okhe Yan and Longsachung those who were engaged in Eri-culture practicing also participated in the programme.
Earlier, the function was chaired by BTT convenor Tsenyimo Humtsoe while vote of thanks was said by FF Chopathung Humtsoe.
