Dissemination workshop on ‘Primary Census Abstract of Census-2011’

Directorate of Census Operations, Nagaland, Kohima conducted a two-day ‘Data Dissemination workshop on the Primary Census Abstract of Census-2011’ on December 17-18.
The first day of the workshop was conducted on the topic- “Analysis of Data on Primary Census Abstract, Slum PCA and Age Data from Census 2011” at Hotel Vivor, Kohima and the second day of the workshop was exclusively held for imparting training on CensusInfo Software- “A Tool for Accessing Census 2011 Data” at NIELIT, Kohima.
Administrative Officers from all the districts, commissioner’s office, officers from different government departments and research scholars attended the two-day workshop.
The first day of the workshop was chaired by assistant director of census operations M. Peseyie. The workshop started off with a keynote address by the deputy director of census operations, M.K. Darjee following which the resource persons from DCO, Nagaland gave power-point presentations on different parameters of Census Data.
ADCO Imkongnungsang presented on “Data Highlights of Census-2011,” Thonlo Kath on “Slum in Nagaland,” Kilangsungla Pongener on “Age Structure in Nagaland,” Viyovol Chaya on “Housing Condition in Nagaland,” Ahyulo Kemp on “Amenities and ”Sentimeren Kichu on“ Workers & Non-Workers” and some interesting facts from Census 2011 were presented by Yanabeni.
The second day of the two-day workshop was chaired by statistical investigator, Gr. I Pichano Kikon.  The workshop started with an introduction to the features of CensusInfo Software which was developed by the United Nations Statistics Division in partnership with UNICEF and UNFPA.
The software is designed to enable the user to extract information quite easily and generate charts and maps at state, district and sub-district level. The training was imparted by Surajit Dey assisted by Tamongba Longkumer, Manashi Hazarika and Ahyulo Kemp. The participants were given hands on exercise on how to generate tables/charts/graphs easily by using the CensusInfo Software. The workshop was conducted with fund support from UNFPA.
