Jesuit priest Rev Fr Emmanuel ordained at Akuk village

Deacon Emmanuel Pvuthungo Patton SJ was ordained to priesthood by Bishop of Kohima Rev Dr James Thoppil DD at St John’s Catholic Church, Akuk Village under Wokha district December 28, 2013.
A late report received here said Rev Fr Emmanuel Pvuthungo Patton SJ was ordained by the Bishop in the presence of Jesuit Regional Superior and Provincial Rev Fr Arul Susaimanickam SJ, 40 priests (19 Jesuit and 21 others) and 20 Ordained Sisters representing different Parishes, Dioceses, and Provinces of the country, Catholic Association of Nagaland president and colleagues, seminarians from St Xavier’s Seminary Jalukie, well-wishers from villages across Wokha district and the entire Akuk village community.
Deacon Emmanuel Patton SJ was earlier presented to the Bishop by a cultural troupe followed behind by Akuk villagers in full traditional attires forming a long line from his parents’ house till the church.
Speaking at the felicitation programme after the ordination, the Bishop thanked the parents of the newly ordained priest and the community for offering Rev Fr Emmanuel Pvuthungo Patton SJ to the service of God.
Rev Fr Emmanuel Pvuthungo Patton SJ also thanked the Bishop and his superior for their constant support and prayers. In expressing his gratefulness to Akuk villagers for organizing the program in a befitting manner, Rev Fr Emmanuel Pvuthungo Patton also assured them that he would constantly remember them in his daily prayers.
Rev Fr Emmanuel Pvuthungo Patton SJ, son of N. John Patton of Akuk Village is the third person from the village to be ordained a Catholic priest.
