Organizations condemn abduction

Mangkolemba Ao Lanur Telongjem (MALT), the Mangkolemba Town Students’ Union (MTSU) and the Watsü Telongjem (Mangkolemba Unit) have vehemently condemned the “barbaric and audacious act and threatening on the life of Imtisanenla” by Onjitkum (26) son of late Imdongchujang of Changki village and a permanent resident of Hokiyong Ward in Mangkolemba under Mokokchung district on the night of January 12.

In a joint press release, MALT president Imjong Longkumer, MTSU president Sentimeren and Watsü Telongjem, Mangkolemba unit President Ajungla stated that that Onjitkum “forcefully abducted” Imtisanenla, a class 10 student of Baptist Higher Secondary School, Mangkolemba and daughter of Alemmeren of Saring (Nokphu B) village under Mangkolemba subdivision from her rented residence in Satihit Ward at around 7:30 pm and attempted to take away in a Maruti Van.  They said after speeding away around 200 meters the victim jumped out of the vehicle thus sustaining serious injuries to her face, rib and stomach.

Later, the accused followed the victim to her house and allegedly threatened to kill her, the three organisations stated. The three organizations appealed to the responsible department to award befitting punishment to the accused at the earliest and any attempt to delay or lessen the degree of the case would be noted with utmost concern. The three organizations cautioned that they would be forced to adopt appropriate course of action. 

In a separate press release, Changki Union Mangkolemba (CUM) has strongly condemned, what it described “forceful abduction and threatening” of Imtisanenla, daughter of Alemmeren of Saring (Nokphu B) village and a class 10 student of Baptist Higher Secondary School, Mangkolemba by Onjitkum, son of late Imdongchujang of Changki village and a permanent resident of Hokiyong Ward in Mangkolemba under Mokokchung district. 

In a press release, CUM president Jakjemmenba and secretary Tongpangensü appealed to the responsible authority to award befitting punishment to the accused.The union informed that the accused would also be punished in accordance to the rules laid down by the union. CUM appealed to all the right thinking citizens to condemn such acts.
