NFHRCC to discuss Wokha imbroglio in Dmu on Feb.15

Naga Foothill Road Construction Committee (NFHRCC) has convened a joint meeting with  Kyong Hoho and the  Wokha District Government Registered Class-I Contractors Union   in the residence of NFHRCC treasurer Yashitsungba Aier at Khermahal on February 15 at 10 a.m. to discuss the grievances of the Wokha district registered contractors after  Kyong Hoho asked for temporary suspension  of ongoing foot hill construction work in Wokha district.
NFHRCC convenor Supu Jamir said the meeting was being convened in response to the stand taken by the Kyong Hoho as appeared in the local media on February 12.
Supu asserted that contractors or department of R&B ought not to confuse the project but to understand it as a “mission for Nagas”.
He further appealed to the class-I contractors of Wokha to understand the project as a “philanthropic mission” that seeks to accomplish the long cherished goal of Nagas for a road artery connecting various tribes of Nagaland. He the mission should not be derailed by any tribe, village or association or forum. He said it was also unfortunate that the “dynamic contractors from Lotha community” had expressed their grievances through the media on February 5 and 12.
Supu also expressed dismay that some sections of people viewed NFHRCC as a “mere NGO” and reiterated that it was a body comprised of ten Naga tribes who sought to emancipate Nagas from the yoke of humiliation and injustice at a neighbouring state.
With regard to contract works, Supu clarified that NFHRCC approached all tribe members to recommend works to competent contractors but they expressed inability.
