Clarifying on the news “Set up JD-U as DAN candidate: state unit” published on February 18 JD-U general secretary (org) Elvis Yanthan and general secretary (publicity) Lakiu Kits disclosed that the contents of the letter addressed to the chief minister and the DAN chairman was an earlier proposal. Further, they said the matter was discussed with JD-U national general secretary (Mahila) in-charge NE Dipti Sharma on February 13 & 14 during which she expressed happiness on the Nagaland unit of JD-U for deciding to back Rio for the Lok Sabha election. They also asserted that the letter was not meant for publication in the media.
