In pursuance to the powers conferred under Clause (1) Sub-Clause (iii) and Clause (2) of the Central Vehicle Rules 1989, and in partial modification of all earlier Notification, the state government has authorized the use of sirens, red lights and designation plates on the official vehicles of the following VVIPs/VIPs, high dignitaries and vehicles escorting them and other emergency service vehicles in the state as under:-
Use of Sirens: Governor of Nagaland; Chief Minister, Nagaland; VVIPs and Union Ministers during their visit to the State; Governor and Chief Ministers of other States when they visit the State; Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
Use of Red Light, Designation Plates & Flag Posts: Governor of Nagaland; Chief Minister of Nagaland; Holders of Bharat Ratna decoration; Deputy Chief Minister, Nagaland; Chief Justice of High Court of Assam and Nagaland; Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly; Cabinet Ministers of Nagaland; Vice-Chairman, State Planning Board; Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly; Puisne Judges of the High Court; Deputy Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly; Parliamentary Secretaries of Government of Nagaland; Member of Parliament; Member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly; Chief Secretary to the Government of Nagaland; State Information Commissioners; Chairperson & Members, NPSC; Additional Chief Secretaries to the Government of Nagaland; Director General of Police; Commissioner of Nagaland; Home Commissioner; Principal Secretaries to the Government of Nagaland; Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland; Additional Director General of Police; Commissioner & Secretaries/Special Secretary to the Government of Nagaland; Inspector General of Police/Officers in the rank of Major General and equivalent in the Army; Advocate General of Nagaland; Accountant General of Nagaland; Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University; Secretaries to the Government of Nagaland; Secretary to Legislative Assembly; DIG of Police; Brigadier or equivalent ranks in the Army; Deputy Commissioners – Posted in Districts and Superintendent of Police – Posted in Districts provided that the red light shall be kept covered with black hood when the authorized dignitaries are not carried in the vehicle.
Use of Multi-coloured Orange, Blue and White Light combination: Police Pilot Vehicle as per entitlement of all VVIPs; Recovery/Break Down Crane on road accident duty; Police vehicle on road/traffic interception duty; Ambulances on emergency duty and Fire Tenders.
