RO holds awareness on election expenditure and monitoring in Kma

A training programme for ‘Awareness on Election Expenditure and Monitoring’ was held Saturday at the Conference Hall of the Returning Officer, Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency & Principal Secretary and Commissioner, Nagaland.

 The training was attended by representatives of political parties and Expenditure Observer, Sushil Kumar Singh and conducted by state level master trainer, Dr. Hovithal N. Sothu.

Dr. Hovithal N. Sothu highlighted on various important aspects of election expenditure and monitoring measures and pointed out the legal provisions for election monitoring including provisions under IPC, 1860 and types of election expenses.

Dr. Sothu said that the expenditure monitoring machinery includes expenditure observers, assistant expenditure observers, flying squads and static surveillance teams, video surveillance teams, video viewing team, media certification & monitoring committees, besides the accounting teams. He stated that these measures introduced by the ECI are not to be regarded as punitive measures rather they are to be taken as deterrent measures only. 

While interacting with the participants Sushil Kumar Singh said that the expenditure monitoring teams including the expenditure observers can be approached any time for clarification of queries or doubts.
