3 LS candidates’ assets

All three candidates for the state’s lone Lok Sabha seat – chief minister and DAN consensus candidate Neiphiu Rio, Congress candidate K.V.Pusa and Socialist Party (India) candidate Akhei Achumi- submitted their respective affidavits of assets owned to the Election Office here Saturday. Both Rio and Pusa indicated they were crore-patis while Akhei Achumi was nowhere near in terms of wealth.
Value of total movable assets owned by Nagaland chief minister and DAN Lok Sabha candidate Neiphiu Rio was put at Rs. 10,65,64,016 as per the his affidavit accompanying the nomination papers for ensuring Lok Sabha elections.
According to the affidavit, of Rio’s total value of movable assets, the DAN Lok Sabha candidate had Rs. 9,82,780 as cash in hand and Rs. 5,55,11,934 as deposits in bank accounts. He has invested Rs. 17, 90,000 in bonds, debentures, shares and mutual funds. Rio also owned motor vehicles worth Rs. 86,12,007.
In the details of his immovable assets include agricultural land in eight different areas – Seithekiema-A village Dimapur; Razhaphe-Basa; Razephe-Bawe; Sukhuvi, Nagaland; Sovima Village; Tuophema Village; Medziphema and Tenyiphe II. The approximate current market value of these lands was put at Rs. 39,921,000.
Rio’s non-agricultural land assets include land at Tseikhouchatsa Kohima and Bypass Junction below, GHS Kohima with approximate total current market value of Rs. 25,636,000.
Details of immovable assets commercial buildings include Noune Resort, Sithekiema-A Village; Eastern Mirror building, Circular Road, Dimapur; Kenouzou Property, Don Bosco Road, Kohima and Niathu Resort, Chumukedima with the combined approximate current value of Rs. 63,600,000. The total current market value of Rio’s residential buildings including in Tuophema Village, Kohima was put at Rs. 13, 34,07,000.
His rival, as for the Congress candidate K.V. Pusa, the gross total value of his movable assets was put at Rs. 35,00,000.
As far as immovable assets are concerned, Pusa owned agricultural land at Kunakuru Medziephema worth Rs. 30,00,000 approximate market value and non-agricultural land at Kelcho, Viswema worth Rs. 80,00,000 approximate market value. Pusa also owned motor vehicles worth Rs. 20, 00,000.
In sharp contrast, Socialist Party (India) candidate Akhei Achumi had Rs. 50,000 in cash and owned a Hyundai Santro car worth Rs. 1,20,000. The gross total value of his movable assets was put at Rs. 81,000.
As immovable asset, Akhei owned residential buildings at Naharabari that was worth approximately Rs. 28,80,000 current market value.
