N Thomas campaigns for Rio
Highlighting various developmental activities being undertaken by DAN government under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio especially for the welfare of the Sanis 39 A/C within one year time, Independent MLA, N. Thomas Lotha said that it was now time for the people of the area to show their acknowledgement. 
“It was for his love and concern for the people of 39 A/C many developmental activities had been taken up and more are in the offing”, he said. 
Thomas was addressing en election rally for DAN consensus candidate Neiphiu Rio for the lone Lok Sabha seat at Sanis town on Saturday.
The work undertaken within a short span of time was commendable and now we have to repay this by extending our support to Rio, he added. 
Thomas told the gathering comprised of DAN allies that Rio had already won the election. However, to get maximum benefit Thomas urged the constituency people to maintain a clean record by voting for Rio. 
He further told the gathering not to be carried away by false propaganda, who approach them with “papers”.  He also addressed rally at Sungro and Lotsu circle under 39/AC. Dr. John Murry also addressed the gathering. 
Rio sacrificing for Nagas: S. Chuba

MOKOKCHUNG, APR 5 (NPN): MLA & vice chairman NSAMB, S. Chuba Longkumer said chief minister and DAN consensus candidate for Lok Sabha Neiphiu Rio was an exceptional Naga leader who was willing to sacrifice the most coveted post of chief minister for the sake of Nagas and the Northeast people in general by entering into national politics.
Addressing a rally at Angetyongpang A/C, Chuba said Nagas need to be proud that Rio has been made a prominent leader of the Northeast, by projecting him as the convenor of the North East Regional Parties Forum (NERPF). 
He said the future prospects lies on the voters genuinely casting their vote with a clear conscience, adding “this is the right time to vote for the right person to represent the Nagas at the Central Policy making”. 
He kicked off the canvassing for DAN consensus candidate Neiphui Rio at 24  Angetyongpang A/C after a combined meeting with the office bearers of NPF party and independent party workers under Angetyongpang A/C.
Former NPF candidate Sashimar Jamir, who also spoke at the meeting, asked the party workers to work together with the independent party workers and bring a thumping victory for Neiphui Rio.
NPF youth wing campaigns for DAN consensus candidate Rio in Tuensang

TUENSANG, APR 5 (NPN): Tuensang district Naga Peoples Front (NPF) Youth wing along with central Youth wing has successfully campaigned in various constituencies for Neiphiu Rio- DAN consensus candidate for the lone Lok Sabha.   NPF vice president Nagaland, Youth wing and Tuensang district team leader, Y. Changsang said during their campaign “immense support” has been received from the people of the district. He further appealed the people to actively participate in the ensuing Lok Sabha election and vote for DAN consensus candidate to ensure better development and peace.
Rokonicha slams NPF -led DAN government
DIMAPUR: Veteran politician and ex-minister Rokonicha held a meeting with his “supporters and loyalists” on April 3 at his residence at Medziphema town for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. 
During the meeting, Rokonicha said that due to “mis-governance” of the state government, organizations like NTC, CNTC, ACAUT etc. have “taken its roots” and has been formed to “safeguard” the Nagas of Nagaland against illegal activities and unabated taxations.
In a release issued by ex-national secretary IYC and president DCC Kughato S Aye stated that Rokonicha alleged that present NPF -led DAN government of “working in the interest of the privileged few” instead of working for the common people and their welfare.
He further accused “those running the government” led by chief minister Neiphiu Rio of “spending money lavishly” on election campaigns in Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh by setting up NPF candidates by spending “crores of rupees at the cost of Nagaland public” when the state government was “reeling under financial crunch” thereby creating “unhealthy relations with neighboring states”.
Rokonicha then said “the last 11 years of NPF misrule, the gap between the rich and the poor have been the greatest due to favouritism, nepotism and tribalism which is threatening the Naga society for peaceful co-existence.”
The members present deliberated on a number of issues, both “politically and socially.”
K V Pusa says Mukalimi siege ‘best example of Rio’s ill treatment’

ZUNHEBOTO, APR 5 (NPN): Congress candidate for Nagaland lone Lok Sabha seat has hit out at NPF- led DAN government saying “Rio’s DAN government attitude and ill treatment against the Nagas particularly the Sümis is clearly evident” and that the Mukalimi siege was the “best example of all.”
Pusa said this while addressing the Congress rally Friday at Zunheboto adding that his visit was to seek “support, prayers and blessing of the Sümis.”
He asserted that if voted to power the UPA government would stress on the rights of the women (reservation) and youth employment.
On the lighter note, Pusa maintained that he would not comment on Rio’s false accusations against him nor speak ill against him adding that he lapse of law and order, poor development, communal tension and corruption during last 11 years of DAN reign which was not hidden to the Nagas needed no further deliberation. 
Mukalimi siege was the hot topic during the rally wherein almost all the speakers highlighted the ordeal of the Sümis and the negative attitude of NPF- led DAN government against the Sümis.
Also speaking at the rally, former speaker and ex-minister Z Lohe accused Rio of leaving the state in “bankruptcy and fleeing away to wash his hands clean and to shower all the blame to his-to-be successor.”
“Leaving behind the prolific and prestigious position to be a mere MP is a point to ponder upon” cautioned Lohe adding that no one is aware of what Rio was upto.
Congress MLA Hukavi Zhimomi recalled that the NPF campaign wherein Rio assured the Sümis “dozen fairy promises”. He however said that Rio gas “ignored, tormented and abandoned” the Sümis when he was needed the most.
In regard to Mukalimi siege, Hukavi said “Rio still choose to remain ignorant and silent and no message of concern or sympathy has been conveyed to the Sümis by him or his DAN government.” 
Other speakers for the day include Nagaland Youth Congress (NYC) Joshua Swu, former Congress candidate Northern Angami -II, Kevise Sogotsu.
Former minister Khutovi, veteran Congress leaders, Mahila Congress and hundreds of public attended the rally.
UPA deprived Nagas for 10 years: Zhaleo

DIMAPUR: Parliamentary secretary for urban development Zhaleo Rio Saturday accused the Congress-led UPA of depriving Nagaland of its due share of all-round development for the last ten years.
Zhaleo, while addressing a public rally in Niuland town, said that the UPA government was depriving Nagaland of peace and rightful share of funds for economic and infrastructural development for the last ten years under the instigation of the state Congress leaders.
 “If the same yardstick was to be applied while allocation Annual Plan outlays, Nagaland was supposed to get around 2700 crore in the fiscal year 2013-14, but perhaps since it was election year, the Congress-led UPA Government, in all its wisdom and charity, deemed it necessary to reduce the allocation to Rs 2000 crore,” he said. Accusing the UPA of step-motherly treatment, the parliamentary secretary the UPA government has put the Naga issue in cold storage. “We have learned from the media that the previous interlocutor RS Pandey had done a good job and that his report was submitted to the government, but the UPA government has put it on hold and we do not know what they plan to do with it,” Zhaleo said. He also appealed to the Election Commission to ensure free and fair voting and asked the electorate to exercise their franchise without any fear or favour.
Nagaland home minister G. Kaito Aye who also addressed the rally said all the 52 DAN and allied legislators and other remaining defeated NPF candidates have decided to support the candidature of Neiphiu Rio and asked the people of the area to “join the Naga mainstream,”
“Resolving the protracted Naga political problem is our topmost priority, and the movement to restore peace and normalcy in the land has started involving the Churches, NGOs, civil societies and political parties,” Kaito said and asked for the cooperation of the people for peace and reconciliation.
Others who addressed the gathering included Rajya Sabha MP Khekiho Zhimomi, Independent MLA Jacob Zhimomi, BJP Spokesperson James Vizo, senior NCP leader Er Yezhukhe, JD (U) Women Wing Secretary Achila, NPF Youth Wing President Kakhuto Shohe and NPF Dimapur Division Women Wing President Kerei Pfukha.  A host of party functionaries from DAN coalition partners attended the rally.
K L  Chishi, Hewoto campaign at Kuhuboto
DIMAPUR: Lashing out at NPF led DAN government, Congress leaders K.L. Chishi and Y. Hewoto Awomi said it has misruled and misguided the people of Nagaland for past eleven years and that it was time for public to say “enough is enough. “
The Congress leaders were addressing a meeting of party workers and sympathizers of Kuhuboto Unit (Ghaspani-I) and Nihokhu Unit (Ghaspani-II) at Kuhuboto town Saturday morning as part of parliamentary election campaign. Making a strong statement that Congress is people’s party that has served the people of the country for more than 125 years, Chishi said Congress as a democratic and secular party has always worked for the benefit of the people would continue to do.
Stating that Neiphiu Rio has no concern for Naga people, Chishi questioned the gathering that how one could take side and support someone who is an ally of a party (BJP) whose ideology has been rejected by the mass of the country. He urged the voters to make wise decision. 
Hewoto Awomi said that NPF led government has been bluffing the people and in response to which public should rise up and give a resounding response against the gross misrule and mis-governnance that has paralyzed the state by voting in favour of Congress.
Hewoto called upon the people to point out any single notable thing that the NPF led DAN government has achieved in its 11 years of rule in the state. The condition of the Nagaland have become so drastic that it is not able pay salaries to government employees. He said publc should realize the factual condition of the state and decide who should represent the Naga people at the centre.
