Tribal Union Chumukedima Town (TUCT) has appealed the state government and the Dimapur district administration to shift the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office complex from the current location to the newly constructed site in Chumukedima.
In a press release, TUCT president Neisalie Losou and publicity & information secretary Ishmael Newme while lauding the government for the completion of the DC office complex requested the both the state government and the Dimapur district administration not to delay the process of shifting as the “empty buildings” in the site would not benefit the public.
TUCT reminded that the DC complex was initiated and passed by the state cabinet with much fanfare two decades ago and after some hiccups, the project has become a reality today. The union also expressed dismay with how the shifting of the complex has been “politicized due to ego clashes and ulterior motives.”
Since the shifting of the complex had been “accepted” by most of the citizens of Dimapur when its building was launched, TUCT said it would now be a “sensible decision” to shift the complex.
TUCT expressed its view that the shifting of the complex should not be based on “ours and yours impression”. The union said since Dimapur district inhabitants were most educated, enlightened and progressive, they were clear that the new site provided “better environment” with ample scope for expansion and development including parking spaces besides being accessible for citizens residing outside Dimapur city areas.
