Organizations condemn April 13 rape incident

Various organizations have vehemently condemned the April 13 alleged rape incident of a minor in Kohima.
CHK: While vehemently condemning the April 13 “rape committed by one Povetso” at Mohonkhola, Kohima on April 13, Chakhesang Hoho Kohima (CHK) said it was “deeply disgusted” by the incident.
CHK president Zhonyi Rhi in a press release said: “No words are adequate to condemn such sadistic act on a minor by an adult”. CHK further lauded the timely intervention of the Chakhesang Youth Front and the Police for arresting the culprit.
Meanwhile, the hoho has warned all the Chakhesangs that “any attempt to bail out the accused or interference in the enforcement of law by any individual shall not be tolerated”. CHK expressed solidarity with the traumatized girl and the family members, Poumai Women Organisation Kohima and Poumai Public Union Kohima. “We shall extend our whole hearted cooperation to all concern for deliverance of justice to the victim” CHK stated. The hoho has also condemned the attack on Abe Mero by “the Urban Command younger brother of the NSCN (K) on April 9, 2014 at Jail Colony”.
Stating that violence perpetrated on peace loving citizens was uncalled for, the hoho urged authorities to take timely action on the culprit.
PSUK: Poumai Students’ Union Kohima (PSUK) has strongly condemned the alleged rape of a minor girl by one Povetso in Kohima April 13.
In a press release, PSUK urged the law enforcing agencies to punish the culprit as per the law and also appealed to the judicial authority not to grant bail to the accused “under any circumstances.”
Further, the union urged all the right thinking citizens to condemn the inhuman act meted out to the minor girl.
CYF: Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) said it was “aghast and appalled at the rape of a minor girl by Povetso at Mohonkhola, Kohima” April 13.
In a press release CYF president Zhopayi Nakro and press secretary Chikhotso Nienu said “under no circumstances can such act on a minor be tolerated nor be endured”.
CYF urged authorities concerned “to provide the severest punishment to the accused and also call upon all not to interfere with the due diligence of law”.
While extending support and goodwill for the speedy recovery of the traumatized child and the family, CYF also extended cooperation with all organisations and authorities for speedy justice.
“It is also our profound wish that such abhor able act does not happen in the future” CYF stated.
NMHP: New Minister Hill Panchayat (NMHP) has strongly condemned  the dastardly act  of  a rape on  a  minor child by one “Povetso Nakro son of Lt. Zavesayi Nakro of Pholami Village under Phek district, a resident of Upper AG Colony, Kohima” on April 13 night at New Minister Hill Kohima . NMPH chairman Neibo-O Kire and secretary Lima Imsong in a press release said it has seriously taken into account that the good name of the colony has been maligned by such atrocities committed to one of its residents.“We therefore would like to appeal the law enforcing authority to deliver justice by awarding befitting punishment to the culprit and that no bail should be granted to the accused”, NMHP stated. NMHP expressed deep concern and solidarity with the victim and the family members.
MUK: Mao Union Kohima (MUK) expressed shock and condemned the “rape of a minor girl belonging to Poumai community at Mohonkhola Kohima” on April 13 night, by one Povetso of Pholami New village under Phek district.
MUK president L. Athiko Lirina and general secretary D. Neli Koso in a press release said the union condemned the “despicable act in the strongest term”.
Stating that rapists have no place in a civilized society, MUK urged the law enforcing agencies to award most befitting of punishments given to the criminal as deterrent for the future. This way, MUK said “children can remain free from the clutches of such depraved persons who prowl and pounce on the innocent”.
KSON: Kuki Students’ Organisation, Nagaland has vehemently condemned the April 13 alleged rape one minor girl at Mohonkhola, Kohima.
KSON president Seimin Dimngel in a statement urged “the law enforcing agencies to apprehend the perpetrator immediately and award befitting punishment as per the law to prevent such uncivilized recurrence in future”.
