First ever Sumi Singing Star (SSS-I) contest kick started on April 15 at the VDB hall, Zunheboto.
24 aspiring contestants from Zunheboto, Kohima, Dimapur and other parts of the state took part at the 4-hour long round-I elimination/karaoke round.
Meanwhile, top 17 selected contestant Alokali (1), Bonoli (4), Katoka (5), Lino (6), Kivika (7), Nishe (8), Kisato (9), Akashe (10), Mughavi (12), Vilivi (14), Kisheto (15), Boloto (16), Lino (18), Ngukavi (19), Kalivi (20), Sulika (22) and Unice (23) would proceed to next elimination piano round-2 scheduled on May 6, 3 pm at Zunheboto.
The host of the evening was Alokali Merry Sumi.
Managing director and founder, Pheto Music Association and Naga Talents Promo Kashito Kiba, proprietor Immanuel School and general secretary Sumi Hoho (SH) Vihuto Asumi were the judges of the show.
The contestants belted out English, Hindi and Sumi cover song while a male contestant sang his own composed Sumi song and a female contestant (Lino) from Dimapur, who is blind by birth dominated the show with her powerful vocals. She got standing ovation from the judges and the audience as well.
Sumi Singing Star Season-1 (SSS-I) is being organised by the Immanuel Music Academy, Zunheboto; School of Music and Arts, Purana Bazaar, Dimapur, and Pheto Music Association, Dimapur, as co-sponsors.
SSS-I winner would walk away with a cash prize along with one year free music course at Immanuel Music Academy, Zunheboto, while all the finalists would be offered a free promotional recording contract from Pheto Music Association, Dimapur. Earlier, the show began with prayers led by pastor Tokugha, youth director, ZTSBC, and advisor, SSS-I.
