
Forest department, Peren on April 22 observed ‘Earth Day’ under the theme “Green Cities” by involving students and teachers of Baptist English School and All Saints Higher Secondary School, Peren.
Deputy Commissioner Peren, Peter in his speech encouraged students to participate in conservation and protection of forest for the survival of human kind.
While distributing Eco-Club fund to the school, the DC reminded the state government’s declaration of Peren district as green district and further appealed to the public of the district to make existing forest planting “more seedlings”.
Branch manager, SBI, Peren declared green pledge in the function.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Peren, in his keynote address, spoke about the importance of the Earth Day and the necessity of sustainable forest management.

Post) Tuensang district asserted that earth day is widely celebrated International event as it provides a chance to remember what an amazing planet we live on.
He said people all over the world observers the day and make effort to protect planet and its environment.
Tsongs also encouraged the students to focus and support the effort to protect the environment.
During the earth day celebration, painting competition was organized by the Eco – Club members of the School, where 15 students participated in the event. The judge for the event was Tsongs K Yim and Debashish Deb, administrator of the school. The painting competition was won by Tinokumzuk class 9 B while Mukamchim class 9 B and Tsoinyu class 10, Tiasangba class 9 A won second and third position respectively.
Debashish also lauded the sincere effort made by the Eco – Club led by Mongtson Khiam and Andie Chang towards the success of the programme.
