NFHRCC asks R&B to withdraw tender

May 11, 2014 | by admin

Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has asked the PWD (R&B) to withdraw the notice inviting tender dated May 8.
NFHRCC in response to the notice held an emergency meeting on Saturday and said the notice should be withdrawn as the foothill road was “an extraordinary project” and “therefore, the concerned department has awarded the jeepable road project to the committee.”
NFHRCC said  70% of the jeepable road has already been completed under the joint supervision of the department and the committee and the same was done through table tender.
The committee also reminded that its members met the R&B minister on December 7, 2013 at his official residence in Kohima and the minister endorsed the committee to initiate jeepable road construction.
The second phase of the work order particularly in respect of Yajang C in Mokokchung division and Mon sector along with Longleng sector has been delayed in view of the observation of the election code of conduct (Lok Sabha).
In the meantime, the department had requested contractor Yashitsungba Aier to start construction at Yajang C sector. Accordingly, the contractor has been executing the same, said NFHRCC. In this regard, the committee pointed out that on April 25, the table tender was initiated in respect of the aforementioned sectors.
NFHRCC also expressed shock with the R&B department for publishing the notice inviting tender. he committee appealed the department to withdraw the tender notice dated May 8, 2014 within a period of seven days with effect from May 11, failing which NFHRCC would initiate appropriate action in the interest of the public and to safeguard the survival of the road.
The committee also appealed the NCSU to uphold and honour the joint declaration dated April 7.
With a view to avoid derailment of the project, the committee appealed to all the contractors and the general public to cooperate with NFHRCC.
The committee also questioned as to why two different yardsticks have been applied for a particular project.
NFHRCC has also asked the department to explain why it was inviting open tender when 70 % of the jeepable road has been completed through table tender.
