Organizations condemn killing by Assam police

Several organizations Wednesday have strongly condemned the killing of Ento Nyakha by Assam Police on Tuesday at Sangtamtilla river bordering Assam.
WCH: Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH) strongly condemning the incident and described it as unwarranted and a gross violation of human rights while asking Assam Police to refrain from killing innocent people. WCH president Vekhosayi Nyekha and press secretary Rudhu Shupao urged the Assam government to take stern action against the “erring policeman” and deliver justice at the earliest. WCH said such acts cannot be tolerated and deserved condemnation by all.  It also expressed gratitude to NTC general secretary Nribemo and Naga Council general secretary Ntsemo Ngullie and other Naga public leaders for their support.
DVC: Diezephe Village Council condemned the killing of its bonafide member and reiterated, that such gruesome act of killing an innocent citizen would not be tolerated.   DVC chairman Dovepra Chuzho and secretary Vezota Chuzho urged the responsible authority to look into the case and “take befitting action against the culprit at the earliest.”
They also expressed gratitude to all neighbouring villagers, leaders of different groups for their support during the time of grief.
UAVU: Urra Area Villagers’ Union(UAVU) vehemently condemning the murder of its bona fide member, adding it was not the only incident where innocent citizen of the area was killed. UAVA president Thirongse Sangtam and general secretary Ruokuozhalie Rutsa reminded that two of its citizens were killed when they went to the same area for catching frogs on October 16, 2010. The union said so far no arrest has been made in connection with the case.
Terming Tuesday’s incident as unprovoked and “barbaric and merciless act of killing” which should not exist in a peace-loving society. The union has appealed to authority of both Nagaland and Assam governments to seriously pursue the matter and bring the responsible to book and award exemplary punishment.
It also appealed to both the state governments to provide adequate compensation to the bereaved family. UAVU said a permanent solution should be worked out as the area fell in the boundary between the two states. Meanwhile, the union has conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed Almighty God comfort them and departed soul rest in peace.
CSUD: Condemning the “barbaric and cold blooded murder” of Ento Nyekha, the Chakhesang Students’ Union Dimapur (CSUD) Wednesday appealed to the state government to pressurize its counterpart to bring the culprit and deliver justice to the bereaved family at the earliest. CSUD president Rukuvoyi Swuro and finance secretary Rokosato Dikha requested the responsible authority to be more vigilant and protect its citizens, especially in the border areas.
The union has also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed God grant them solace in this hour of grief.
WCYO: Western Chakhesang Youth Organization (WCYO) has condemned the murder of Ento Nyekha, who was shot dead by the Assam police on May 13.
Terming the killing as “Cold blooded murder” and an “Act of terrorism”, WCYO in a joint statement reiterated that time and again the Assam police have openly displayed its brutal nature and instinct of killing humans without any reasons which shows the act of frustration and anger towards the neighboring Nagas. The organization question whether the police in the Assam state has “license to kill and after killing do they get away with rewards and promotions”. WCYO appealed to the state government for impartial probe into the incident. The organization also expressed heartfelt condolence, sympathy and solidarity to the bereaved family.
