Uniformed auto drivers now in Dimapur

For the first time, mandatory uniform for autoricksahw was introduced in Dimapur at a flag off programme held at Railway Station compound here Wednesday.
Delivering short speech before the flag-off, SP Dimapur, V.Z. Angami said that the main reason for introducing mandatory uniform was to check unauthorized drivers who were also sometimes involved in unwanted activities. Encouraging the drivers to wear the uniform in order to garner trust and respect from the commuters, Angami said Dimapur police would frequently check the auto drivers with regard to wearing the uniform.
Meanwhile, SP has urged the drivers of not only autorickshaws but also other vehicles to abide by the traffic rules.
DC Dimapur, N. Hushili Sema, who is also the chairperson, Regional Transport Authority (RTA) flagged off the programme. RTA secretary and DTO, Dimapur, Keneingunuo Clara, who chaired the programme, highlighted about the importance of wearing a uniform. Vote of thanks was proposed by senior motor vehicle inspector, DTO, Dimapur, Bendang. Others who attended the flag-off programme included ADC and CEO DMC, Tarep Imchen and others.
