Parliamentary Secretary for Land Resources, B.S. Nganlang inaugurated a newly recognized village, Yungja, under Longleng district, June 13 last.
Speaking at the inaugural function as chief guest, parliamentary secretary Nganlang said establishing a new village was a sign of new thoughts and modern living and urged upon the people of the village to maintain peace and tranquility.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Longleng, K. Libanthung Lotha, who was the guest of honour, also spoke on the occasion. Short speeches were also delivered by Phom People Council (PPC) president Leisha, village council chairman of Tangha and Yongshei.
Other highlights of the function included special number and cultural dance by male and female group.
The inaugural programme was chaired by P. Shahtüng and Yongshei Baptist Church Pastor invoke God’s blessing. Earlier, the chief guest unveiled the monolith while dedicatory prayer was pronounced by V. Longpang.
Yongshei GMS inaugurated
Parliamentary secretary for land resources B.S. Nganlang also inaugurated one of the oldest government primary schools (GPS), which was upgraded to GMS, at Yongshei village under Longleng district June 13. In his address, B.S. Nganlang described the day as “historic” for Yongshei village as their long cherished dream became reality. He said to promote quality education, teachers, students and parents should actively get involved to bring up good students in the days to come, stated a DIPE report.
