Seminar on legal awareness was conducted June 26 by Nagaland state commission for women (NSCW) in collaboration with National Commission for Women, New Delhi at Chang Tribal Council (CKS) hall Tuensang district headquarters.
At the seminar, the speakers included CKS president M.P Nokshang, Chang gazette officers’ association president Banjung, Chang GBs’ Union president Hongsa, CCSU president T Chuba, DBs Union president Nasetchingmak. All the speakers spoke on the topic marriage, divorce and inheritance practice among the Chang community.
Short speech was delivered by EAC Tuensang headquarters Kikata while NSCW chairperson in her introductory remark said women were equal and also empowerment of women was not about contesting against men or customary law, but to uplift the right of Naga women. She also urged the participants to support women in their pursuits.
The seminar was attended by VCCs, GBs, DBs, student leaders and women organization from Chang inhabited areas. Earlier, the programme was chaired by NSCW member Asangla Cholong.
