July 2, 2014 | by admin

Drawing attention to the press statement issued by the Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) which had demanded an unconditional apology from Nuklutoshi minister of mechanical engineering and national highways, to the Ao community, NPF Central Office Bearers in-charge of Mokokchung Division, has issued a clarification on the “ actual position of the party” with regard to events that took place inside the NPF Mokokchung Division Office on June 27.
In a joint press statement, NPF Central office bearers in-charge of Mokokchung Division- Aolepden (vice president), Anungba Imsong (general secretary) and Nungsang Jamir (secretary) asserted that Nuklutoshi along with the Central Office bearers convened an emergency meeting with party leaders that included NPF Central Office party workers from Mokokchung Division and frontal wings on June 27 at 11 a.m. in the NPF Mokokchung Division office.
They said the objective of the meeting was not only to assess the prevailing situation within NPF Mokokchung Division but also to interact with the remaining party workers to explore further necessary steps.
In order to “disrupt the genuine NPF party meeting” convened on the day, they said “ the so-called” Mokokchung District NPF Forum (MDNPFF) also called a meeting at 9 a.m. in the same office.
According to the signatories, when Nuklutoshi also minister in-charge arrived for the meeting, “ some miscreants” entered the meeting venue inside the hall and challenged the minister (Nuklutoshi) and asked him to call of the meeting.
When the minister tried to reason out and explain the purpose of the meeting, the “disgruntled group, led by Lipokmeren and Imtimongba” with others attempted to “physically assault the minister” by pulling down and breaking the table and hurling furniture at the minister while stones were pelted from outside.
They said the minister (Nuklutoshi) reacted only to defend himself against physical harm. During the period, the SP Mokokchung, on hearing the commotion inside the hall, rushed but was also “harmed” when rubbish bin was thrown on him while stones pelted also damaged glass panes on his vehicle.
Later the “trouble makers” were removed without harm from the NPF office premises. Disrict administration then promulgated Section 144 CrP.C. prevent such “unprovoked mischief” after which the meeting proceeded, they said.
In the light of the “above mentioned faction circumstances” the NPF Central Office bearers in-charge of Mokokchung Division said they firmly assert that the demand for “unconditional apology to the Ao community’ did not arise. Further , they reminded that as a social and apolitical body , MTLT should “stay away from the activities of political parties”. Further, they also urged upon MTLT to “ refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of NPF party”.
