GA colony residents renovate GMS Wokha town

July 17, 2014 | by admin

In what may be regarded as a realisation of communitisation and community participation in its true sense, the community of GA Colony in Wokha town has contributed cash, kinds and labours to repair the Government Middle School, Sector ‘A’ Building at GA Colony, Wokha town.
The GA community, spearheaded by the colony council and in collaboration with the school management, repaired the floor and wall of the school building’s ground floor so as to accommodate the 258 students – the highest enrolment of students in the district. The colony council collected voluntary donations of cash and kinds from the community after an appeal was made to the colony council for community support by the Ward Education Committee since there was no sufficient source from the government for the mentioned project. The colony people volunteered the labour works for four days on rotational basis.
It may be noted that GMS Sector ‘A’ received the best school award in 2013. The school received a computer set from the Directorate as award for the best school, yet no citation has been received so far from the Directorate for the feat the school had achieved.
Meanwhile, the Ward Education Committee has thanked GA Colony Council, teachers and all the contributors and volunteers who have participated for the uplift of the school building. While extending a heartfelt gratitude, the WEC hoped that the community and the Colony Council would continue to support the school in the near future as well.
