State consultation on HIV & AIDS

A two-day state consultation to asses current situation of widows, destitute and single women living with HIV in Nagaland was organized by Network of Kohima district people living with HIV/AIDS (KNP+) Nagaland, supported by Positive Women Network (PWN+) Chennai  and UNAIDS July 22 and 23, at Hotel Grandeur, Kohima.
The meeting was organized mainly to discuss with various stakeholders to widen care, support and treatment services to widows, destitute and single living with HIV with an immediate need of addressing the various issues in order to develop a mechanism to strengthen the linkages with the state government and to avail maximum social schemes and entitlements to women.
Participants from districts of Nagaland like Noklak, Tuensang, Kiphire, Mokokchung, Phek, Kohima and Dimapur attended the meeting. They presented their issues and further appealed to improve the current situation to different stakeholders including government, NSACS, media, Churches and NMA in the panel discussion to develop a strategic plan for the welfare of the women community.
