A joint team of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) along with Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD) on invitation met Nagaland governor, PB Acharya August 12 at Chumukedima.
NCD in a press handout said that the team welcomed and congratulated the new governor and at the same time highlighted the various problems faced by the citizens of Dimapur. Problems such as- poor quality of roads, erratic power supply and sanitation- were brought to the notice of the governor. Naga Council also raised the issue of district civil hospital and poor medical facilities that was hampering quality health care.
The team has also requested the governor to look into the demand for setting up of engineering and medical colleges in the state.
The joint team has also appreciated the governor for interacting with Naga civil society, business organisations and various communities in Dimapur.
On his part, the governor suggested that apart from politics and developmental activities, society should stress on younger generation and their education too.
Meanwhile, NWHD has highlighted the governor on 33% women reservation in civic body now pending before the Supreme Court.
To this, the governor expressed that, despite the court case, arrangements should be made to look after the needs of the city. He also assured to talk with the government on this issue.
