Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has slammed the state BJP president for accusing the previous UPA government of meting out step-motherly treatment to Nagaland and blaming the 13th Finance Commission for the current financial crisis faced by the state.
Terming the accusations as “empty rhetoric”, NPCC through its media cell said it was to “defend the massive corruption” perpetrated by the NPF-led DAN government during the past 11 years in power.
Asserting if BJP wanted to parrot the language of NPF in blaming everything on the previous Congress-led UPA government for all the problems faced by the state, NPCC said then BJP exposed their “limited capability and thinking process” in addressing pertinent issues destroyed by corruption at all levels.
By “blindly defending” the corrupt activities of the NPF government, media cell said state BJP president has “openly” contradicted himself when he had earlier stated that “NDA govt had made it very clear, that it will not tolerate corruption at the cost of common people.”
It pointed out that the massive deficit figures of Rs.1252.45 crore presently incurred by the state was the “prominent legacy” of the NPF government. NPCC also alleged NPF government blatantly emptied the state treasury without any signs of development over the past decade despite UPA government sanctioning hundreds and thousands of crores of rupees especially through various central flagship schemes.
On state BJP’s appeal to DAN-III government to discharge its duty in timely submission of utilization certificates and judicious utilization of funds, NPCC said the appeal came late in the day when they preferred to remain a silent spectator during the last 11 years.
Further, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee stated that BJP would “certainly miss an opportunity” to take the high moral ground if the “corrupt deeds” of the NPF government running into thousands of crores of rupees become a non issue.
Media cell also said rewarding the present NPF government with an additional financial package even after “blatant misdeeds and corruption” would only prove that the BJP patronized corruption to cling on to power at all costs.
Despite 11 years of “massive corruption” perpetrated by NPF government, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee said if the state BJP saw nothing wrong in it, then BJP should rather concentrate on convincing their bosses in Delhi to sanction generous amount of financial package that would once again give an opportunity for the “immensely greedy and corrupt leaders” of the NPF government to further consolidate their wealth and spare a few crumbs for its allies “desperately salivating at the prospects of sharing the spoils.”
