Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has organized a tour to the 7 districts of Nagaland including Kohima, Wokha, Mokokchung, Zunheboto, Peren, Dimapur and Phek from August 5 –16.
A press release by NSF general secretary, Esther Rhakho and the secretary for education, Bangdi Chawang, said the Federation has undertaken the tour to assess poor performance of Government High Schools in the HSLC examinations and to discuss for better academic performance of the students and development of the Government High Schools.
All through the tour, NSF had a joint meeting with the authorities of Government High Schools along with the District Education Officers (DEOs) and Federating Units of the NSF.
In the joint meetings, NSF along with its federating units, DEOs and representatives from the various Government High Schools discussed on grievances and problems commonly faced by all the schools particularly on shortage of teachers especially in mathematics and science subjects, imbalance in students-teachers ratio, unsystematic staffing pattern, the poor infrastructure facilities, lack of classrooms and the lack of parents/guardians emphasis on their children/ward academic studies.
The meetings were well deliberated on the merits and demerits of the Non Detention Policy Act under RTE. Besides the above mentioned grievances, it said NSF would be submitting a comprehensive report of the touring to the State government and the Department concerned at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the Federation has conveyed its gratitude and acknowledged the support and co-operation extended by its federating units, DEOs, all the Government High School authorities and the district administrations throughout the touring.
