Dunamis Life Church, Burma camp Dimapur Pastor James Ngullie and his wife were reportedly “threatened” by a shopkeeper in New Market, Dimapur on September 2.
According to an FIR lodged at East Police Station, James Ngullie stated that one Abdul Basit, a shopkeeper threatened him and his wife when they went to the shop to buy shoes on September 2. The FIR stated that when he asked the shopkeeper on the durability of item, Abdul Basit started abusing both of them and said that “Moikan manu ki namaree, moikhan manuki muria dey (we don’t beat people, we kill people).’ Talking to media persons at East PS, James pointed out that if Basit was found to be an Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrant (IBI), then he should be deported. He said “our families are not safe even in our home because of IBIs” and urged upon civil societies to come forward and fight for it now as “tomorrow would be too late”.
ACAUT Nagaland member Joel Nillo said that it was high time that Nagas “do away with the compromise culture”. He said police should probe the case thoroughly.
Dimapur Sumi Students Union executive member, Steve Chophy urged the other tribal apex bodies and students to come forward and fight against crimes by IBIs and to take up the issue that confronts the society.
