Two days training on value addition on traditional preservation for women of nine villages under Jalukie area was held from September 16 and 17 at Nkwareu village.
The training was organized by Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) with subject matter specialist (SMS) home science Kenny Rhetso and KVK junior Vinika K Aomi as resource persons. In the introductory session, DAN coordinator farm Northeast project Martha Dukru highlighted the importance of the training. She stated that the project was implemented under Jalukie block and Peren block covering nine villages with the objectives of empowerment, capacitating, promoting and enhancing income for sustainable development to farmers by imparting new innovative ideas and technologies through training, workshop and seminar.
During the technical session, V. Kenny Rhetso said the training was organized especially for educated and unemployed women, drop out student and house wives to enable them to set up their own cottage industry to enhance income and sustain their livelihood. Resource persons also demonstrated the process on how to prepare and make pineapple squash, pineapple jam, king chilly pickle, ginger candy and ginger ale.
Meanwhile, DAN animator farm Northeast, John Panmei urged the participants to start with the idea and implement with the surplus available raw material at home in a small scale.
