Strongly reacting to Nagaland Foot Hill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) demand for cancellation of work orders, floated through Notice Inviting Tender (NIT), for Yajang ‘C’ and Mon sectors and issue of fresh work orders, the Oting Citizens’ Forum (OCF) has stated that since work order was awarded through the open tender (NIT) it should not be cancelled no matter who the contractor was.
Cautioning the cabinet sub- committee (CSC) and state government on the issue, the forum insisted that the road construction begin from the first week of October 2014 as assured by the government.
In a press release, Oting citizen forum president T. Hamwang Konyak and general secretary Y. Wangtao Konyak said if the government intended to cancel the work order then it should be awarded only to the landowner local registered contractor who would be assigned by the forum.
The forum affirmed that no other contractor would be allowed to come in particularly OCF jurisdiction under Mon Sector.
Accusing NFHRCC of suspending work in Mon Sector, Oting forum questioned if NFHRCC was above the government to dictate over the issues.
The forum lamented that due to the apex Konyak Union resolutions and notifications dated June 7, 2013 it had “become just mere silence spectator” while so many complications/apprehensions were going deeper on the long cherish foothills road construction.
However, the forum said having known all the pros and cons it would not remain silence spectator.
“The OCF will not allow any deceiving designs to jeopardize the road constructions under Mon Sector,” they said.
