September 21, 2014 | by admin

It has been observed that even after repeated reminder and conducting awareness programmes by the District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC), Dimapur, there were many schools, hotels, restaurants, tobacco product sellers and pan shops not complying with the provision of COPTA 2003. The deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur, Wezope Kenye, who is also the chairman, DTCC, Dimapur, has reminded the responsible entities to immediately comply with the provisions by displaying the appropriate signboards and signage as already communicated to them. In a press communiqué, DC further reminded the traders that tobacco product advertisements in any form was banned under the Act, for which they have been asked to remove them (if displayed) and non compliance of the provisions would attract penalty including imprisonment.
