Jennifer Love Hewitt odd gift for Matt Damon

Cast your minds back to the late ‘90s. Email was a relatively new phenomenon. Seinfeld was king of the mountain. And Matt Damon was an actor without a bed.
Though he was beginning to make it big in films like The Rainmaker and Good Will Hunting, Damon still hadn’t had time to acquire a mattress to rest his weary head.
He shared that factoid with a magazine around that time. Jennifer Love Hewitt saw it and took pity. She told Jimmy Kimmel on Monday night that she bought Damon an air mattress and had it shipped to him in Paris where he was filming so that he’d always have a “safe place” (metaphorically speaking).
“I was reading an article and he said this really sad thing about how all his dreams were coming true but he didn’t feel that he had a bed of his own, he was always traveling,” Hewitt recalled.
“I remember being really busy also and thinking that’s so sad, to have all your dreams come true but not have a solid foundation. So for some reason, I though an aerobed would help that for him,” she said.
A lovely gesture from one young actor to another, but, according to Hewitt, one that she was not thanked for. More than 15 years later, she says she’s still waiting for a proper gracias. “It made me sad. I understand maybe his security never gave it to him, that’s a possibility,” she told Kimmel.
Damon is known for being a nice guy. Still, maybe she should have sent him a box of apples? We have it on good authority that he loves ‘em!
