A two-day within-state training programme on “Production technology and marketing of vegetable crops,” organized by the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Mokokchung, was held from September 25 -26 at the State Agriculture Research Station (SARS), Yisemyong.
The training was organized with an objective to address the priorities and problems related to winter vegetable production which were expressed by the farmers during the Training Need Assessment conducted at all the ATMA blocks of the district.
The resource persons were L Nungsang, Research Officer; Smt. Maongsangla, Assistant Plant Pathologist; Kikatemjen, Agriculture Officer from SARS; Smt. TemsuienlaAo, Training Officer; I Lipokonen Jamir, Assistant Agronomist; Coordinators (ATMA) from District Agriculture Office, Mokokchung; and Dr. B Kilangla Jamir, Prof. Dept of Econmics, NU.
Altogether, 38 farmers and 15 officers from various departments attended the programme. Field visits to SARS farms, KVK station and private farms were conducted and seeds of vegetable were also distributed to the farmers at the end of the training programme.
