North East Farmers federation (NEFF)’s executive council meeting was held on September 17 at Nagaland house.
At the meeting the house resolved to regularize the post of current office members led by Dr YY Kikon (Nagaland) as president and Zion Lalremruata (Mizoram) as secretary general along five other members.
Keeping in view that the farmers of the region have been deprived from marketing their produce in fair manner, North Eastern regional agricultural marketing co-operation limited (NERAMAC) was established to address the matter.
The meeting also discussed in detail the scarcity of potato seeds in the region which has been creating immense problem for the farmers of the region. In that regard that meeting also felt for setting up potato seeds development centre in the region. The meeting also resolved to submit a memorandum to the concerned authorities at the centre to redress the plights of the North East farmers so that potato seeds would be readily available.
